Review by: Ron BLK Morgan

I must confess that thrash metal is a genre that I don't revisit too often lately. But it is what got me into metal in the first place. Life Apocalypse is the follow-up to The Divine Equal by Titans eve. The 11 tracks of Life Apocalypse were produced by Titans Eve and recorded by Sacha Laskow of Divinity at Perfect Fifth Studios in Calgary, AB.

Brian Gamblin: Guitars and vocals
Kyle Gamblin: Guitars and Vocals

Jesse Hord: Bass

Casey Ory: Drums

Following the current thrash vein being mined by bands like Holy Grail and to a lesser extent Toxic Holocaust, Life Apocalypse is chock full of harsh thrash vocals, melodic riffs and solid leads. What i found is that for the most part it actually succeeded in sounding fresh and interesting.

Let’s start off with the 1:07 intro Overcast which leads to the hard hitting Destined to Die, which is not a bad song, but is probably my least preferred track on the album. Road to Ruin is where the ass kicking officially begins and after that the assault never really slows down. Hollow Gods is by far my favorite song on the album, with a stylistic nod to 1980 Maiden. Road to Ruin, Divided We Fall and Frozen in Time are neck snappers, and probably the most aggressive tunes to be found here with good harmonizing lead melody between the guitars and
unrelenting, pummeling drums giving the listener a sledgehammer to the face.

What I like(d) the most in Life Apocalypse has to be their vocals and the sheer energy of the songs which abuses the ear drums with a fine thrash assault, competent and is well executed. Vocalist Brian Gamblin works his way through the songs with abandon and more often than not succeeds in providing the finishing touch on songs that are worthy of replay. Those looking for an aggression filled beat down can purchase this album without second thought.

Overall, Life Apocalypse won’t disappoint new listeners or long-time fans of the band. Titans Eve will be bringing their music supporting Canadian metal heavyweights Anvil so be sure to check them out!
