The day has come, and a hot one at that for an inside show. But cover it I must. Headed in from the valley, crossed the “now” free toll bridge, and headed to the Rickshaw Theatre.

Strange to have all the bands being under one umbrella, Nuclear Blast.  The band starting off the night is GHOST BATH, a depressive band. I am still not too sure what I thought of these guys, I did enjoy the music side of things, but thought maybe the vocals could have some different ranges, and lyrics. Most of what I heard at the back, vocals sounded more like grunts. That doesn’t impress me, words are a powerful way to communicate. It was good to see a pretty full floor when they played though.

FALLUJAH hits the stage next. They come from the Bay area, and have an atmospheric metal sound to them. They played a variety of songs much to everyone’s enjoyment.  You could tell looking around the venue, that people were hanging onto every song. Now if only there were some fans in there to keep everyone cool. There was no way I could stand down front, moshers were stupid ass crazy as expected. Fans were bouncing off the energy.

DECAPITATED, well we all know this name, if you don’t, where have you been living. These guys have been around since 1996. They have had some tragedy, but I think it’s what has made them stronger, and forging full force ahead. Okay, I couldn’t sit in the back of the room for them, I had to force my way down to the front, and get the full brutal assault. For some reason, I was fine were I stood, never once got jostled. Let me tell you, Decapitated rules, didn’t matter what song they played, they did it to perfection. I had a silly grin on my face the whole time, horns raised in the air, and enjoyed every minute of their crushing set. These guys know how to perform, they know how to get the audience involved, and they played some really kick ass songs too. Sadly, their set wasn’t long enough, at least for me. They ended their set, and people stood there, I guess expecting them to come back. That would have ended the set perfectly. I will tell you this, a lot of people left the floor and didn’t return for the headliner.

Rising from the unhallowed wastes of Western Sydney THY ART IS MURDER is the headliner tonight, and the first tour of North America Tour with C.J. McMahone behind the mic. Didn’t really know what to expect. I was happy with their music / vocals, but I think I needed more, to me, who doesn’t have an ear for music, wanted some different riffs and drum blasts. Seemed to be similar from song to song. Oh, I did enjoy, but would have enjoyed more. After about 6 songs, I was just way too hot, headache came on, just no air in the room, especially with all those fans moshing, jumping around, guess it was just too hot for me to stay and evaluate more of their set.

As a whole, for most people surrounding me, it was a great tour. I, enjoyed most of it. I would much rather have Decapitated headline though.. Just an all-around fantastic performance from each of those members.
