Late start to this show tonight, but turned out great, was able to get into Vancouver after work, without much speeding to get there on time. Although I was a little worried when standing in the lineup there didn’t seem to be many fans standing there. But you can never tell, as a lot of people purposely don’t show up for the starting bands. Which is a mistake, considering that each and every band, starts out that way.

First up tonight is the starting band, a local one, to get the crowd going. TITAN’S EVE
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Titans-Eve/53568260495. Many of you know these guys, you see them at shows, and they put on one heck of a set. 6 songs, with 3 of them being new ones off an album that will be coming out soon. This band always, without fail puts on their best performance. They executed their songs to perfection, look around the room, and yes, not many people, but the ones there showing their support were all headbanging. They have a great sound. But I have to say, it was really a strange group of people on the floor tonight, Brian tried interacting with the fans, but it was like .. what, really strange crowd. But nevertheless, they nailed it. Can’t wait to hear their new album if those 3 songs are any indication of the rest of the album. Fantastic job guys.

Up next, wow, oh wow, this band, first time seeing them…wow!! I will not ever miss these guys, who you ask…the band is called LODY KONG. https://www.facebook.com/pimp.juice.28/info . When you look them up on their facebook page, it says what they are all about “Dat new neww shaggy”, the description - “were out here to make your ears feel like they are trippin on acid. were four crusty fucks who just want to break shit and get crazy everywhere we go”. More or less just some fun stuff to write on your facebook page. Two of these crusty guys are sons of Max Cavalera,, so you know there is a lot of musical talent here. But it goes beyond that, when you can listen for the first time to a band, especially live,  and be thoroughly in awe, you just know that Lody Kong is going places. They have only been around for about a year and a half, but, the energy, the talent, the presence on stage is phenomenal. Not at any time did I become bored, or look around the room,  they know their stuff, and they gave it full force to the crowd. You can tell by watching them, they enjoy their time up on stage, and it shows, making it a really bad ass show. I might even say they stole the show tonight.  All 4 members rocked the night. Each brought pure showmanship to Vancouver. I am sorry, I don’t think I really expressed just how exemplary Lody Kong really is. Just don’t make the mistake of missing them, they will “knock you off your feet”  . Seriously.

SOULFLY (https://www.facebook.com/SoulflyOfficial/info) has been in the trenches since 1997 and have been spreading the tribal word ever since. I am sure that there isn’t a person out there who has not witnessed one of their shows, or heard their CD’s, so you know what you are going to get, perfection, plain and simple. They played a variety of old and newer songs to everyone’s enjoyment, especially mine, and I still love to hear Roots, Bloody Roots, I am pretty sure the mosh pit went even crazier for that one. Jump, jump, Max had everyone doing just that. There is no arguing the fact Soulfly has extreme talent when they are up on stage, guitars, vocals and drums, executed perfectly. But a big hand goes out to Zion, who also plays drums in Lody Kong, how he does it, I don’t know, it’s not like one band has slower music. He goes full tilt for both bands. My hat goes off to you for such outstanding drum work. The floor was pretty well packed too for Soulfly, with lots of crazy ass moshing going on. Even though they were here in February, they still executed an excellent set, one I enjoyed immensely. If they were to return again in 6 months, I would still be there enjoying.

From start to finish, I savoured every minute of it. If you get the chance, there are still some more tour dates left to check out this bad ass tour:
