First band I saw tonight is SHATTERED SUN, a band from Texas that I had just seen for the first time at the Rockstar Mayhem Festival in the summer, and they put on one heck of a show then, so was really curious as to whether they would be just as good again, playing live can be a touch and go thing at times. But I was left with no doubt, another set nailed to perfection from the band. The guys all work hard to give you the best of their sound and performance. This is a band who is not about the stage appearance, but their music, their own sound. Don’t miss them on tour, they are a must see.

Up next is SOILWORK, who are from Sweden, giving a little Melodic death metal. This style originated and developed in Sweden (pioneered by At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames). This is a band I am not sure about, some songs I like, others I walk away from. Needless to say, the crowd was enthralled with them, and the band held their attention. A lot of fans came for Soilwork the last time I saw them was on Barge to Hell. The songs they did, they executed them well, everything that they did on stage was well done, they looked to be enjoying themselves as much as the crowd. So don’t get me wrong, it is like listening to an album, some songs you like, others not too fussy about. So just like a performance on stage. Their performance was good, the crowd loved them, so that still makes for a great show.

You know the saying “they saved the best for last”, well that is exactly what this tour did. Headliner Soulfly came on stage to loud cheers. The floor was pretty full too, and again with some crazy ass moshers. But forget them, watching each and every member of Soulfly is something to behold, each carries out their task to perfection, whether is Zyon on drums, Marc on guitar, and let’s not forget the new guy on this tour, Mike Leon on bass, and most importantly the one who pulls it all together, Max. It never fails to amaze me, how every time I have seen Soulfly on stage, it has been an immaculate performance. Sound, lights (which were much better this time around) adds so much to the set. There is no limit to the energy that exudes from the band. Max himself got the crowd going quit a few times, but I have to say what draws the attention, are the songs, people were singing right along with Max, I didn’t know most of the words, but had to smile to watch the crowd and see just how much they were all enjoying themselves. After all, that is what it is all about - the metal. There were a lot of songs played, old and new, but sadly, when you are enjoying the set, when it ends, it is very disappointing, even though you have been enjoying it all this time. This was who I came to see, because I know I am always going to get more from the show than I expected. You can never be disappointed with a Soulfly performance. I also would like to say here that their merch guy Brian, was amazing, did an excellent job and was always more than happy to help out and wait for people making their decisions. Don’t miss out on SOULFLY, they capture and hold your attention for the whole show.

Sadly, Decapitated was not here, as they did not receive their work visas in time. Catch you next time guys.
