A Davis family representative confirmed the report, saying in a statement: "The Davis family is brokenhearted over the devastating loss of Deven Davis. We ask that you respect their privacy — and the privacy of those close to the family — and allow them the space to mourn in private. We thank you for your love, understanding and prayers of support during this difficult time."

A former girl-on-girl porn star who married Jonathan in 2004, Deven and the singer had two kids together, Pirate and Zeppelin. (Jonathan's first son from his previous marriage, Nathan, will turn 23 this fall.)

TMZ reports that Jonathan filed for divorce in October 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. He also filed for a domestic violence restraining order earlier today. The judge issued a temporary order blocking any child custody or visitation by Deven. The restraining order also prohibits her from having contact with the family dog, Chaos.

In his court declaration, Jonathan alleged Deven was deeply involved with drugs, which she had struggled with for more than 20 years. He alleged her drug use was causing emotional harm to the kids through neglect. He said that had been dependent on both prescription and illegal narcotics. According to the singer, she had been to rehab six times and "is constantly under the influence of the nitrous oxide, cocaine and Norco."

According to the documents, Deven had been in a sober home but went missing last Friday and hadn't been seen for a week.

No cause of death has yet been revealed.

Deven was born Deven Augustina Schuette in Findlay, Ohio on April 6, 1979. When she was 18, she changed her name to Deven Davis for modeling before she was married or even met her soon-to-be husband. As fate would have it, Davis ended up being her married name.

Jonathan reportedly gave up recreational drugs and alcohol almost 20 years ago, but has continued to struggle with chronic and debilitating anxiety and depression — and consequently a reliance on prescription drugs.

The singer has admitted in interviews that he was treated in 2013 for Xanax addiction.

Jonathan told Metal Hammer magazine that one song on KORN's 2010 album, "III: Remember Who You Are", was written about Deven "when she was having problems with pill addiction. [Producer] Ross [Robinson] called her without me knowing and asked her to show up to the studio, and I had to sing that part to her."

A few years ago, Jonathan credited Deven and his three sons for keeping him alive. "They saved me from being an idiot and dying from a drug overdose," he said. "They've given me this side of my life that brings me happiness. I love being a father: waking up in the morning, [taking] them to school, fixing them breakfast. I really get off on that."

Earlier this year, Jonathan told Forbes that he wasn't worried about his children using drugs. "My son Nathan won't ever do that," he said. 'He's 22 years old, he's a DJ. He goes out on the road, he's successful in music. He doesn't drink and he doesn't partake in any of that, because he saw what it did to me. He was three years old when I got sober, but he remembers me coming home and then finding me out on the front porch passed out drunk. Pirate and Zeppy have never seen me drink. There's no drinking in our house. For one, Zeppy [who suffers from Type 1 diabetes] can't, he'll die. And then Pirate, it isn't his thing. They're good kids. They've just never been brought up around that culture to party and have liquor.

"Hopefully Deven and I have taught them correctly, "he added. "That's a dark road. Parties, social drinking, it just leads eventually to bad stuff. You can be one of those people that socially drink, but I am not one of them."

The following statement was provided on the official Huntress facebook page:

"It is with crushed hearts that we announce that Jill Janus—frontwoman for the California heavy metal band Huntress—passed away on Tuesday, August 14. Janus spoke publicly about these challenges in hopes of guiding others to address and overcome their mental illness.

Janus was a truly special creative involved with numerous musical projects including her role as vocalist for female metal/hard rock cover bands TheStarbreakers and Chelsea Girls. "It doesn't get more blasphemous than this," declares Behemoth mastermind Nergal, about the band's upcoming album, I Loved You At Your Darkest - due out October 5th via Metal Blade Records (North America) / Nuclear Blast (Europe). While it certainly seems an unlikely title for a black metal band, its origin might surprise fans even more than the words themselves. "It's a verse from the Bible," Nergal reveals. "It's actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For Behemoth to use it as the basis of our record, it's sacrilege to the extreme."

A crushing salvo of black metal majesty replete with hellish riffs, thundering drum cannonades and soaring liturgical choirs reminiscent of classic horror cinema, I Loved You At Your Darkest is the group's most dynamic record yet: extreme and radical on one hand, but also more rock-oriented than any other Behemoth release. Produced by the band themselves, with drum co-production by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames), mixing by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children Of Bodom) mastering by Tom Baker (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), and a 17-piece Polish orchestra arranged by Jan Stoklosa, I Loved You At Your Darkest can be pre-ordered now at: - where the video for the first single, "God = Dog" (directed by Grupa 13 /, can also be viewed. Terji Skibenæs, longtime guitarist of Faroese folk metal band TÝR, has announced his departure from the group.

He said in a statement: "This is it. I am now officially leaving the band TÝR after 17 years.

"After months of thinking this through carefully, I've finally come to the decision that it's time for me to quit. The reason is very simple: I have no desire whatsoever to play in TÝR anymore.

"There's no drama or anything going on between me and the others. It's just me not having any joy to play the music in the style of TÝR anymore.

"I want to thank Heri Joensen and Gunnar Thomsen for the all the time we had and I wish TÝR all the best in the future. And thanks to all the fans for the support through the years.

"My last show with TÝR will be at Sabaton Open Air in August.

"More news to follow soon about my future projects."

TÝR recently completed a North American tour with ORPHANED LAND, GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS and AETERNAM.

SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera spoke to Metalshop TV about the band's forthcoming album, "Ritual". Tentatively due in October via Nuclear Blast, the follow-up to 2015's "Archangel" was recorded with producer Josh Wilbur, who has previously worked with LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA and ALL THAT REMAINS, among others.

Speaking about the new disc's musical direction, Max said: "Some of 'Ritual' is a bit back to the groove of early SOULFLY — the real heavy groove — and then the other side of it is really my passion for the heavy, fast stuff that I always love: death metal, hardcore and black metal and all that. We have a song called 'Under Rapture', [which features a guest appearance by] Ross [Dolan] from IMMOLATION. And he sings in the end — it's got blast beats and everything, and it's insane. It's so cool, man; I'm so happy that we got that song on this record."

According to Max, Wilbur "is a huge Max fan and a huge SOULFLY fan, and he was, like, 'I wanna make the SOULFLY album that I wanna hear.' So he tried to get me to make more groove songs, tribal songs and stuff like that," he said. "In the end, I think everybody [was] pulling from one side to the other side — I'm fighting for the fast songs; he's fighting for the groove songs — and you put it all together, and it's kind of what I've been [jokingly calling] 'tribal thrash.' Which is kind of cool, man. It's not totally original, but it feels new, for some reason. It's got the sound of right now, but we borrowed some ideas from the early days, like percussion and grooves and tribal chants. And I recorded with Navajos. It was great. We put some of them in some of the songs."

Cavalera also discussed the new SOULFLY track "The Summoning", which the band has been performing live on its current European tour. "It's not one of the main songs [on 'Ritual']," he said. "And I wanted to do that on purpose — play a song that's not one of the main ones. It's not a single — it's not gonna be a single or anything — but it's got this really cool breakdown in the end; it's so sick that I think it's gonna become one of the coolest breakdowns that we have. It's kind of like the 'Dead Embryonic Cells' [SEPULTURA] breakdown. And I noticed when we play it live that when that part comes in, people just lose their shit. So it's cool. I think it's got good potential."

Asked why he decided to name the new SOULFLY album "Ritual", Max said: "Most of all, I like the name; I think it's a very metal name. I was thinking a little bit about the early ways of listening to music, with vinyl — you take the vinyl out, you smell, you put it on, you get the needle, and it's a whole ritual involved in that. And, of course, now there's a new ritual — you get your tablet, you go to Spotify or you go to [another] web site and find your music, but it's also a ritual.

"Metal is very ritualistic in many ways, in what we do — the circle pits, the chanting, the hands up, the horns up, headbanging… It's ritual music," he continued. "So I thought this is a simple name that everybody can connect to. And we made some really artwork involving two of my favorite artist of right now. Eliran Kantor made the cover — he also did 'Archangel' — and the inside, all the inlays was Marcelo Vasco from Brazil. The inside is really cool — it's got this Shiva with all the different arms and gas masks and all these symbols. I told Marcelo to invent some symbols that look crazy, so he invented some… they look almost like voodoo ritual symbols, and we used them on every song, and stuff like that.

"I like the [album title] a lot," Max added. "I remember the JANE'S ADDICTION record 'Ritual De Lo Habitual', and I always liked that name; it was always really cool. So I just used 'Ritual', just the first part of it. I always like to borrow things from other groups, especially when it's from different [styles] of music that's not really metal — like, JANE'S ADDICTION is not really metal. So that's probably where I got the idea from — it's probably from that."

ARCH ENEMY has postponed its previously announced North American tour until 2019.

The band said in a statement: "We were looking forward to seeing everyone again this fall and to share our stage with GOATWHORE and UNCURED, but we have been forced to cancel this run due to reasons beyond our control. It's very unfortunate timing, but we cannot wait to come back and rock U.S. soil again next year and see all your faces! Thank you for understanding and, as always, for your support of ARCH ENEMY! Ticket and VIP refunds are available at point of purchase."

The 22-city tour was scheduled to kick off on September 28 in Providence, Rhode Island and run through October 27 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey.

Co-produced by guitarist Michael Amott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, ARCH ENEMY's latest album, "Will To Power", was mixed and mastered by longtime collaborator and friend Jens Bogren (OPETH, AT THE GATES, DIMMU BORGIR). The album's captivating cover artwork was designed by Alex Reisfar.

"Will To Power" marks the second ARCH ENEMY album since the departure of longtime singer Angela Gossow and addition of Alissa White-Gluz. It is also the first ARCH ENEMY disc to feature former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis, who joined the band in late 2014.

On August 2, GOJIRA drummer Mario Duplantier will unveil his fine-art debut collection, "Vers le Cosmos". Completed with art team SceneFour, the release, which is crafted from the new medium of rhythm-on-canvas, took more than a year to complete. One of the works in the collection, however, is earmarked for the ambitious work of the aquatic philanthropy The Ocean Cleanup, an organization that develops advanced technologies to rid the world's oceans of plastic.

For more information, visit

Duplantier has joined an extraordinary group of drummers working with art team SceneFour in the medium, including Bill Ward (BLACK SABBATH), Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), Rick Allen (DEF LEPPARD), Mike Mangini (DREAM THEATER), Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), Mikkey Dee (MOTÖRHEAD, SCORPIONS), Nick Menza (MEGADETH) and Gene Hoglan (TESTAMENT, DETHKLOK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DARK ANGEL, DEATH).

Asked by Music Radar in a 2017 interview how he discovered drums, Mario said: "My brother [GOJIRA frontman Joseph Duplantier] started playing guitar with a friend at school; he had his own band. I was just 11 or 12 years old. He is five years older than me. Because I was very close with him, I was always hanging out in his bedroom and just watching him playing guitar and being really into it. One day, when I really fell in love with METALLICA, I took some chopsticks and started to beat everywhere on the table in my room. My mother came in and said, 'Are you interested in drums?' We jumped in the car to the first music store in the village and we bought a kit."

Regarding why he thinks his drumming has resonated with so many people, Mario said: "I try to put so much of my soul in my way of playing, just pure fire. We have a song called 'Liquid Fire', and sometimes when I'm playing it, I feel like I'm liquid fire. I'm not thinking about anything else anymore; I'm in a pure, present moment. When I play drums, I feel free, like I'm flying. I don't have to pay attention to my face, how I'm talking to people. It's no longer a social thing; it's just pure creativity. In our family, we've always been encouraged to be creative and to be ourselves. When I'm playing drums, I'm 100 percent connected to raw energy, really connected to myself. It's just about me existing and expressing something. I feel so good when I play, almost like an animal, and I think people feel this. I put a lot of emotion into what I play too. Sometimes I cry. I put in all my joy, all my anger. Playing drums is a real therapy. It's almost existential."

JULY 27th 2018
The North American trek, which also features ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT and NAPALM DEATH, is scheduled kick off tonight (Thursday, July 26) at Gilford, New Hampshire's Bank Of New Hampshire Pavilion.

LAMB OF GOD said in a statement: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to inform you that Chris Adler will not be performing on our upcoming North American tour with SLAYER. In his absence, we would like to welcome Art Cruz [PRONG, WINDS OF PLAGUE], who will be filling in at the recommendation of Chris. We expect to see Chris returning in the very near future. We will see you all on the road soon."

In addition to LAMB OF GOD, Adler has played drums with a number of metal artists, including MEGADETH, NITRO, BLOTTED SCIENCE and PROTEST THE HERO.

In a 2011 interview with Metal Insider, Adler said that he "absolutely" still felt challenged as a drummer. "Every day!" he said. "I think that's a secret that maybe nobody will let you know, that all of us are backstage with our fingers crossed. Holding on is a tricky rope. I just have to feel good about the songs that I write and performing them. They're rarely ever perfect, and I still get the jitters before we go onstage. I don't want to say I don't have any confidence as a drummer. I listen back and hear cool stuff and realize that I'm playing in a cool band, but I don't walk into it with a bunch of ego either. I don't go into the studio with the guys and think to myself, 'Hey, you're one special drummer that people write about in magazines.' I still have to challenge and prove it to myself all the time. I guess I'm a bit self-conscious about it in that I want to be as good as I can for the band. So yeah, it hasn't really changed over time. I've always wanted to never allow myself to, whether it's true or if I've gotten to that place where you're talking about, I haven't allowed myself to swallow that yet."

Adler spoke about his early drumming influences during a separate interview with Metal Underground. He said: "When I started playing, which was a little bit late, around 21, I had already had gone through those teen years where you idolize a certain band or certain guy or you fall in love with an instrument. I definitely enjoy playing drums, but it's not, for me, the be-all-end-all. So, when I got around to listening to hear what I liked or didn't like about certain drummers, it wasn't about a particular band was cool. It was more about what the drummer was offering. It wasn't even drummer-specific. It wasn't always just metal players.

"As far as metal, which I've always been a fan of, guys that I thought were doing something unique and different, and made me want to play, first and foremost, was a band called WRATHCHILD AMERICA," he added. "The guy, Shannon Larkin, now plays with GODSMACK and has played with a million people since the WRATHCHILD days. The stuff he did with WRATHCHILD AMERICA was the same kind of thing that any great drummer does — he was really elevating that music with his voice on the drum kit."

LAMB OF GOD is touring in support of its covers album, "Legion: XX", which was released under the BURN THE PRIEST banner on May 18 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and Epic Records in the U.S.

JULY 20th 2018
Nuclear Blast Records has announced the signing of rock and heavy metal icon and unique filmmaker Rob Zombie to a worldwide deal. The follow-up to his 2016 studio album, "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", and 2018's "Astro-Creep: 2000 Live" is due in 2019.

Comments Rob Zombie: "I am very excited to work with the fine folks at Nuclear Blast. The combination of the label's grassroots urge to get the hustle done mixed with the detonation of our most combustable melodic masterpiece yet should prove to be a winning hybrid of hellacious hullabaloo."

Adds a representative from Nuclear Blast: "As fans ourselves at Nuclear Blast, we have long admired the artistry of Rob Zombie throughout his extensive and successful career in both music and film. It is a very exciting opportunity to unite Rob's visionary talent with Nuclear Blast ingenuity.

"Nuclear Blast has a long history of thinking outside of the box and creating personal and collectible experiences for the fans. We look forward to delivering unforgettable experiences to fans around the world for years to come with the legendary Rob Zombie."

Last summer, Rob and his bandmates commenced work on the follow-up to "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", which was the second consecutive effort to feature Zombie and guitarist John 5 alongside bassist Piggy D. and drummer Ginger Fish.

This past February, John 5 compared the shock rocker's upcoming album to THE BEATLES' groundbreaking LP "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", saying that it is "by far the best Zombie record that he's ever done." He added: "A lot of people say, 'Oh, it's just our greatest record,' and I don't say that. Whatever I say is so honest when I'm doing interviews. So I think it's our best record."

When asked what makes the new Rob Zombie album so special compared to his previous records, John 5 said: "First of all, Rob did incredible with the lyrics and the melody — unbelievable!

"What he did this time around… We did it… I don't even know if he wants me to talk about this, but how we went about it is… We would usually, me and Rob would come up with some music," he said. "He'd be, like, 'I like that music, and let's write to that music. I'm going to write my lyrics and melody to that music that we just created.' So what happened this time is he wrote lyrics and melody to, like, drum beats and sounds, and he came up with, in my opinion, the hookiest, most memorable lyrics and melody that he has ever. And what he did is brought me in and then we worked on the music, and it was un-fucking-believable; it just worked so well."

Zombie recently told Loudwire about his upcoming album: "I think it's the best record we've made. Parts of it are the heaviest, parts are the weirdest, it's the most complex record we've ever made, but at the same time, it's always very catchy and listenable, but it's the most intricately structured record."

He added: "There are those songs that go in a direction we've never even gone near before. Personally, I like records that are very varied in sound. Not just like, 'Oh, here's 12 super heavy tracks,’ and they're all the same tempo. I like records that are all over the place. That's why I think my favourite BEATLES record was always The White Album."

BLACK RIVER, the Polish punk/rock/metal band featuring BEHEMOTH's Tomasz "Orion" Wróblewski and DIMMU BORGIR's Dariusz "Daray" Brzozowski, has entered the studio to record its third album.

After causing a stir with its 2008 debut release, "Black River", and equally powerful follow-up, "Black'N'Roll" (2009), it's high time for the exciting supergroup to unleash another musical assault.

"We're ready to announce that BLACK RIVER is coming back to life!" says Daray. "We have written a dozen or so new songs, which are going to be laid down on tape during upcoming session. We're super-excited about playing together again and the energy that we create."

He continues: "The working title of the new record is 'BlackPunk' and it perfectly captures the attitude that we're approaching it with. The next step would be shows, but they will follow in the right time. Now it's time for the album!"

BLACK RIVER's third full-length is tentatively due in the first quarter of 2019 via Mystic Production.

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of Polish death/black metallers HATE.

Based in Warsaw, HATE has been praised by press and fans alike for years for creating lacerating and dark music, proven best on its current album, "Tremendum" (2017). The album saw Adam "ATF Sinner" Buszko (vocals, guitars) utilize the dark aspects of the mystic and arcane Slavonic folklore to explore themes both personal and impersonal. It is an album that is relatable at first listen, but that is hard to fully know.

Buszko stated about the new deal: "'You are judged by the company you keep', the saying goes — and if that is true, then we shall be judged extremely favorably.

"We are very proud to announce our signing to Metal Blade Records, a label that is as synonymous with metal as the invention of the distortion pedal.

"This signing could not have come at a better timing, as it coincides with an opening of a new chapter in the band's history. Beginning with the release of 2017's 'Tremendum', HATE has been on a journey towards new, even darker horizons, and we're confident that this step will help us in reaching these goals. Our first collaboration is already well underway and plans have already been laid down to enter the studio in December of this year, with a tentative release date for mid-2019.

"Come, bear witness and join us on this journey."

The following video and statement was posted on the band's page earlier today:

"Friends, as many of you have realized by now; there will be some regrouping within the Enslaved-ranks. So, we'll just let Mr. Bækkevold speak up (you all know he loves to go on and on and on anyway....)

This is rough mix of a new song „Path To Arkhen” taken from pre-production session, which took place between February and April 2018 at JNS Studio.

HATE's frontman comments:

„This is a new dawn of a sincerely empowering and galvanising journey to be on. We are currently in the middle of the writing process, but as I promised (here and elsewhere), we are sharing this piece in its initial form: ”Path To Arkhen.” Arkhen being a version of the last bastion of Slavic Paganism, Arkona. (...) We are planning to enter the studio by the end of this year, with the new record fully written in hand for a tentative early 2019 release. Thematically, it builds further upon the themes of our previous album, “Tremendum,” exploring the darker and more malevolent sides of archaic Slavic ritualism. This new opus will explore these themes further, more profoundly, detailing with our own confrontations with this gone, but not forgotten world. Both in form and in sound. “

DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen has left the band's tour with JOURNEY to deal with a family emergency. Replacing him until he returns is TRIXTER's Steve Brown.

Brown made his live debut with DEF LEPPARD on the current tour Friday night (May 25) at the Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Fan-filmed video footage and photos can be seen below.

Collen and his wife of eight years, Helen, are awaiting the birth of their son this spring.

This is not the first time Brown has stepped in for a member of DEF LEPPARD. He previously subbed for Vivian Campbell at several shows in 2014 and 2015 while the DEF LEPPARD guitarist received treatment in his fight against Hodgkin's lymphoma. Brown's first appearance with DEF LEPPARD took place in September 2014 during the pregame show for the first of three NFL International Series outings.

DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott broke the news of Phil's absence to the Hershey crowd about a half hour before showtime. He said (see video below): "Good evening, Hershey. I am Joe Elliott. Welcome to what should be a great night.

"I have an announcement to make. And I'd like you to spread the word as people come in. But, very sadly, Phil Collen cannot be with us this evening. He has a family emergency back in California. So we are very blessed that our very good friend Steve Brown, who, some of you may remember, stood in for Vivian about four years ago when Vivian couldn't make a couple of shows, has learned the bits very, very rapidly and, with Phil's blessing, will join us on stage tonight. And for the immediate future.

"So just be prepared, okay? We're here for ya, and we're glad that you're here for us. Thank you. See you in 30 minutes."

Asked by Sleaze Roxx in a 2017 interview how the DEF LEPPARD gig came about, Brown said: "Those guys are like family to me. Most people don't know this, but I go back with DEF LEPPARD to about 1988 when they were touring behind 'Hysteria'. Phil Collen is a like a brother to me. When Vivian was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, Phil said to the LEPPARD guys, 'I have the guy that can step in while Viv is undergoing treatment. Let's call Steve.' I was also friends with Joe [Elliott, DEF LEPPARD singer] and I think it helped that he was a fan of one of my other band 40 FT. RINGO. I think he knew I had the voice to do it. I truly believe that I got the gig not because of my ability as a guitarist but more because of my vocal ability. So I got the call in early 2013. I learned the entire set and finetuned my parts and began playing some gigs with them in 2014."

Steve went on to say that "the DEF LEPPARD catalog is not the easiest thing to learn. There's some very intricate guitar parts, very unique guitar parts," he explained. "Steve Clark wrote things in shapes and boxes that I haven't played before. So it was challenging, for sure. I have said this to friends of mine that are guitarists, 'Man, the LEPPARD gig isn't as easy as you think it is.' It was a challenge to dig in and learn the Mutt Lange/DEF LEPPARD collection. They are not your typical cookie-cutter rock and roll band. They have a unique way of writing songs."

DEF LEPPARD and JOURNEY's 58-city tour kicked off on May 21 in Hartford, Connecticut and will run through October 6 in Los Angeles.

"Amongst Stars", the new video from Finnish melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's latest album, "Queen Of Time", which is being released today (Friday, May 18) via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2015's "Under The Red Cloud" includes the use of real strings, flutes, orchestral arrangements and even choirs. In addition, this is the first time that people are able to hear their lyricist Pekka Kainulainen on the album as he contributes a speech in Finnish.

"Queen Of Time" was once again produced by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, KREATOR), who is well known for challenging and motivating artists during the recording process. He isn't afraid to push them to their limits.

The "Queen Of Time" cover artwork, which was created once again by French artist Jean "Valnoir" Simoulin from Metastazis, captures the feeling of the lyrics and the music. With Pekka Kainulainen's (lyricist) words, the lyrical theme is universal: "Cultures rise, flourish, and are destroyed. The story of man is the story of searching, finding, and forgetting. A single spark can set the world afire, a single idea can give birth to a new culture. The greatest can stagnate into insignificance, the smallest can hold the power for change. The lyrics on this album are distant echoes of ancient forest peoples, from a time when meaning was proportioned by the cosmic forces that govern birth and death. If the connection was lost, they sought for a strand of knowledge, found a new direction, and a new age began."

"Queen Of Time" is also the first AMORPHIS album to feature the band's old/new bass player Olli-Pekka "Oppu" Laine following the departure of Niclas Etelävuori in 2017. Oppu was one of the founding members of AMORPHIS in 1990 and recorded the first seven records with the band before he exited the group in spring 2000.

"To be honest, 'Oppu' was the only guy we could imagine being in AMORPHIS," says Esa. "It was funny — when we started to play our first shows together again last summer, it all felt so familiar. He was involved with arranging songs and he also even brought some new songs to the table… really good ones, too!" Oppu adds: "Even though the last year with AMORPHIS has been exciting, nostalgic and fun, it's also been truly comfortable to be with the guys again. As a clichéd expression, it's been like returning home from a lengthy odyssey. After 18 years, it feels like we are picking up where we left off from the good ol' days! I'm really looking forward for the upcoming tour. The new album itself is a really strong package, the only hard thing will be picking which songs to play live! It's safe to say we are set to pull off some killer shows over the next few years. After that, I'm predicting a long and fruitful career for the band in its current form..."

"Queen Of Time" track listing:

01. The Bee
02. Message In The Amber
03. Daughter Of Hate
04. The Golden Elk
05. Wrong Direction
06. Heart Of The Giant
07. We Accursed
08. Grain Of Sand
09. Amongst Stars
10. Pyres On The Coast

Bonus tracks (digi, 2LP, and mail-order edition only)

11. As Mountains Crumble
12. Brother And Sister

Holopainen comments: "I guess 'Queen Of Time' turned out as a massive surprise to all of us. During the rehearsing and pre-production, we didn't have any idea that Jens had this huge picture inside of his head about the landscape of the album. It's a very natural continuation to 'Under The Red Cloud' but with steroids. The songs are more aggressive but there's more dynamics, harmonies and orchestral arrangements present. The result is AMORPHIS as something you've never heard before! Essentially, working with Jens worked really well. As a person, he is very similar to us — we share the same kind of weird humor and we all like to work hard."

"Prequelle" will be released on June 1 via Loma Vista Recordings. The record was tracked last year at Artery studios in Stockholm with producer Tom Dalgety (OPETH, ROYAL BLOOD) and mixed in January at Westlake Studios in West Hollywood, California with Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, SLAYER).

APRIL 13th 2018

GHOST has set "Prequelle" as the title of its new album, due on June 1 via Loma Vista Recordings. The disc was recorded last year at Artery studios in Stockholm with producer Tom Dalgety (OPETH, ROYAL BLOOD) and was mixed in January at Westlake Studios in West Hollywood, California with Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, SLAYER).

The official video for the disc's first single, "Rats", can be seen below. The clip was directed by Roboshobo (a.k.a. Robert Schober), who has previously worked with METALLICA, ALICE IN CHAINS, MASTODON and GREEN DAY, among others.

"Prequelle" track listing:

01. Ashes
02. Rats
03. Faith
04. See The Light

05. Miasma
06. Dance Macabre
07. Pro Memoria
08. Witch Image
09. Helvetesfönster
10. Life Eternal

"Prequelle" marks the introduction of GHOST's new leader, Cardinal Copia, who made his live debut with the band on April 6 at a private, three-song acoustic performance in Chicago.

The last Papa, Papa Emeritus III, was forcibly taken from the stage during the final show of the band's "Meliora" tour cycle last fall, with Papa Zero arriving to announce the beginning of "the Middle Ages." Of course, all the Papas — except the elder Zero — and Cardinal Copia are the same man, GHOST founder and vocalist Tobias Forge.

Forge's new alter ego will play his first full live show with GHOST on May 5 as the Swedish band kicks off a run of North American dates in Riverside, California.

Forge told Revolver about "Prequelle": "It is loosely themed around the concept of death and doom. It's a themed album around medieval times, but it's definitely clinging onto a lot of very current things. The Black Death [plague] is a great example of a turning point for a whole civilization. Complete villages were annihilated. Most people knew very little, so all of it was God or the Devil — and about their faith being questioned: Why are we being stricken down by this great scourge? It must be because of our not fearing God enough and all this superstitious bullshit.

"There's a lot that you would recognize today in online mannerisms," he continued. "In many ways, we've gone back a few steps because now it's closer to how it was back in the old days when people were standing at the square and all of a sudden, it's like in Monty Python's 'Life Of Brian': 'Stone him! Ra! Ra! Ra!' Public trials are very unsupervised and extremely swift and speak to the most primordial parts of us."

In a separate interview with Metal Hammer, Forge talked about the musical direction of "Prequelle", saying: "It's a very bright-sounding record. And it's a very heavy record, I'd say, but not from a Metal Hammer point of view, meaning all metal through and through. But it's a heavy record with a heavy theme. I think the overall ambience is very serious.

"Technically, a GHOST song could just be piano and vocals but it could also be full pounding, heavy-thrashing hard rock," he added. "I'm not in any way comparing us to them but I guess our modus operandi is a little like what QUEEN did — just decide to play really good songs and not focus too much on sticking to a recipe."

Forge last year revealed his identity while responding to a lawsuit filed by four former members of GHOST, who accused him of cheating them out of their rightful share of the profits from the group's album releases and world tours.

MARCH 15th 2018
The new Canadian metal band featuring members of THREAT SIGNAL, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD has been christened IMONOLITH.

The group was launched following Devin Townsend's announcement that he has put the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT on indefinite hiatus while he works on other projects.

Joining drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen and guitarist Brian "Beav" Waddell (who played bass in DTP) are bassist Byron Stroud, second guitarist Jed Simon and vocalist Jon Howard.

Regarding how IMONOLITH was chosen as the moniker for the new band, Van Poederooyen said: "Jed Simon had a list of over 50 band names he thought of over the years. He sent them to all of us in the band. The word 'Monolith' was one of the band names. It caught my attention and I started playing with the word. At first, I thought of various names with words in front of, or after the word Monolith, then I thought of 'I Monolith.' But it didn't sound right, so I added the letter 'i' to the front of the word 'Monolith' and voilà… IMONOLITH was born. A brand new word used for a band name. The guys dug it when I brought it up to them. It sounds heavy and is easy to say. So we're sticking with it! It still somewhat carries the meaning of Monolith, which is a monumental, black stone of significance. Sounds metal enough for us!"

IMONOLITH (the first "i" is pronounced like the "i" in the word "impossible") is:

* Jon Howard (THREAT SIGNAL) - Vocals
* Brian "Beav" Waddell (DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT) - Guitar
* Byron Stroud (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) - Bass
* Ryan Van Poederooyen (DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT) - Drums

In other Alice Cooper news, he will portray King Herod in the upcoming live television production of "Jesus Christ Superstar". The show is set to air on Easter Sunday (April 1) on NBC.

Produced by Bob Ezrin, "Paranormal" was immediately saluted as a classic album, strong of the collaboration with iconic guests such as ZZ TOP's Billy Gibbons, U2's Larry Mullen and DEEP PURPLE's Roger Glover.

Cooper, who turned 70 last month, said in a 2017 interview that he has no plans to retire from touring. "The live show is something I'll never give up," he said. "To me, the lyrics to the songs are the script to what's going to happen on stage. If you sing 'Welcome To My Nightmare', you have to give the fans something. There are places where you have to kill the ballerina, you know. That's how I design the show. It's all about the lyrics."

The official music video for the song "Trust" from WE SELL THE DEAD can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's debut album, "Heaven Doesn't Want You And Hell Is Full", which was released on February 23 via earMUSIC.

Revolving around Niclas Engelin (IN FLAMES, ENGEL), DRÖMRIKET's Jonas Slättung, Gas Lipstick (former HIM drummer) and the voice of Apollo Papathanasio (SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, FIREWIND), WE SELL THE DEAD goes beyond the strains of conventional storytelling and creates a multi-media experience of premium-quality heavy metal music embedded in visually stimulating and atmospheric visuals.

Engelin told Dead Rhetoric about WE SELL THE DEAD's musical and lyrical approach: "This is a band of friends and musicians who want to do something different and dare to do so. It was the main priority to do something different coming from us and to turn some heads with our songs. We basically do what we love and we feel so fortunate to not have any boundaries or secret map. We just follow our hearts and try to do the best songs we can do and have tons of fun doing it."

He added: "I really wanted to something different and paint with bigger colors and take my time before the chorus kicks in. I just love the Tony Martin era of BLACK SABBATH and MAGNUM's 'On A Storyteller's Night'. I always wanted to try to outdo myself by writing that kind of music with my own way of writing, of course."

Regarding WE SELL THE DEAD's future plans, Engelin said: "We would like to take the band in a live environment and try to do something similar to the album’s theme, but we have to find out how to do it first. We are making our first appearance at our release February 23 in Gothenburg and we will just go from there. We have some ideas how to do this. We have already mapped some ideas for the next album and I have been writing some epic and big stuff lately which the guys are putting their magic to as we speak, so we are in the flow."

Rob Zombie has confirmed "3 From Hell" as the title of his next movie, a sequel to his 2005 horror hit "The Devil's Rejects". The film, which started shooting earlier today (Tuesday, March 13), is said to continue the story of the Firefly clan — Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding, Bill Moseley as Otis and Sheri Moon Zombie as Baby — whom we saw go down in a torrent of bullets at the end of the first film.
It's not clear whether Zombie plans to resurrect the Firefly trio from the dead in some kind of supernatural fashion in the new film or has found a way to explain that they survived the original movie's climactic shootout.

"The Devil's Rejects" is widely considered Zombie's best film. It's a semi-sequel to his directorial debut, 2003's "House Of 1,000 Corpses", which introduced the Firefly family.
Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that he was approached by the studio in record time about making a sequel to "House Of 1,000 Corpses". "I went away for the weekend [the film opened], so they couldn't find me till Monday," he said. "So it was basically Monday. I think the film opened, like, on Thursday and I was gone, and they couldn't find me, so by Monday they were already talking about it. Depending upon what you spent and what you made, I mean, that movie was profitable after one day. Whereas you get these other movies where they're, like, 'Oh my God, it made $100 million!' and it's still $100 million in the hole because they just spent so much."
According to Bloody Disgusting, Zombie is in negotiations with Saban Films and Lionsgate to release "3 From Hell" in theaters, VOD, and home video. Zombie distributed his last movie, the partially crowdfunded "31", through both companies.

"Arcana Imperii", the new video from Ihsahn, can be seen below. The song is taken from his seventh solo album, "Ámr", which will be released on May 4 via Candlelight/Spinefarm.

True living legends are few and far between, but Ihsahn has long since earned the right to be regarded as one of metal's all-time greats. As frontman and chief songwriter with legendary Norwegian black metal pioneers EMPEROR, he swiftly cemented a formidable reputation as one of the underground's most idiosyncratic creative forces. Classic albums like 1995's "In The Nightside Eclipse" and 1997's epoch-shattering "Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk" ensured that the young band were among the most respected the most popular of Norway's many black-hearted exports. Their imperious rise to prominence came to an unexpected end after the release of 2001's wildly intricate and grandiose "Prometheus: The Discipline Of Fire & Demise", but it was an album that suggested that Ihsahn's compositional journey was far from over.

Reincarnated as a solo artist for 2006's "The Adversary", Ihsahn has spent the last 12 years forging a second path through artistry's darkest shadows; one that is making more and deeper connections than any of his past endeavours. With a sound that still retains strong links to his black metal roots while embracing everything from skewed art rock and avant-garde jazz to experimental electronica and dark ambient, each successive album has presented a brand new manifestation of the Norwegian's unique craft: from the muscular and haughty riff sculptures of "Angl" and "After"'s haunting, saxophone-driven mirage to the tech-metal explorations of "Eremita" and on to the wild, avant-metal splurge of "Das Seelenbrechen", Ihsahn's catalogue speaks of a restless creative spirit with ideas to burn.

In keeping with that spirit, 2018 brings the arrival of Ihsahn's seventh solo album, "Ámr". Another immersive and frequently disorientating eruption of refined and absorbing progressive extreme metal, it echoes the meticulous precision and structural simplicity of 2016's widely acclaimed "Arktis". Album while taking Ihsahn's music somewhere entirely new, where the hiss and throb of old school analogue synths dominate and the atmosphere is airless and oppressive. Once again percussively propelled by longtime drummer Tobias Ørnes Andersen and with a blistering guest solo from OPETH's Fredrik Åkesson on "Arcana Imperii", "Ámr" is another evolutionary leap from one of metal's most remorselessly forward-thinking protagonists.

"It's just lovely to work with Tobias," says Ihsahn. "I know that he can technically handle anything I throw at him. But more importantly, when I say like; 'I want this to feel like the vacuum between words in a conversation with Hannibal Lecter,' he will say, 'Yeah, I get that!' [Laughs] So for him, it's not about showing off, it's always about relating to the vibe. With Fredrik, we met first time in Oslo, when I did my debut solo show as support to OPETH and later we've hung out on different festivals when we happen to play the same day. Last time in Japan when we played there with EMPEROR and OPETH. We were talking about guitars and I said, 'Not to kiss up to you or anything, but you're absolutely one of my favourite players, so some day I might call you for a guest solo…' and he says, 'I'm in!' He did a fabulous job."

As with all of Ihsahn's solo albums to date, "Ámr" possesses its own unique atmosphere; a palpable sense of tension and unease that infuses even the album's most melodic moments with heightened drama and otherworldly menace. But despite its often-claustrophobic feel, this is very much an album of beautifully crafted and shrewdly arranged songs. Although as dark and intense as anything he has conjured before, both the depth of sonic texture and the clarity of his overarching vision are more impressive than ever.

"Knowing that the form would be somewhat similar to what I did on the previous album, and given that I write stuff in a certain way, I wanted to change the wrapping this time," Ihsahn notes. "So instead of going with my go-tos of strings and orchestration, I focused on analog synths and more in-your-face sounds. It goes back to the beginning of EMPEROR, when we brought in strings and horns inspired by orchestral movie scores by John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, but at the same time we loved all those eerie synth soundtracks of, for example, John Carpenter's 'Halloween'. I've also been listening to some contemporary R&B and hip-hop stuff with those deep, deep 808s. It's just somehow darker than a lot of metal or black metal. It has a depth and an energy to it that I find captivating, so I wanted to explore those arrangement styles as well."

Another bold stride into uncharted territory, Ihsahn's seventh solo album is the legendary Norwegian's most eclectic and challenging to date. Morphing fluidly from mellifluous art rock ambience to vicious extreme metal, covering all points in between, the likes of grandiloquent opener "Lend Me The Eyes Of The Millennia" and the wild, melodic melancholy of "Sámr" blend seamlessly with ornate, progressive metal monoliths like "In Rites Of Passage" and the immaculate, climactic "Wake". Drenched in evocative synthesizers and brimming with skewed-but-irresistible riffs, "Ámr" is both Ihsahn's most accessible record to date and his most extreme departure from his black metal roots.

"Every album I intend to make the darkest album ever," Ihsahn says. "I never set out to make anything more melodic or accessible. However, growing up on '80s metal, plus having a rather wide range of musical influences, I often end up with quite contrasting elements. This is my seventh solo album, so in the end it really comes down to methods and perspectives that keep me exited and fired up about what I'm working on. If I'm not excited about it, I can't expect anybody else to be!"

03. Sámr
04. One Less Enemy

Robert Plant says that there will be a celebration "somewhere" of LED ZEPPELIN's 50th anniversary this year and that he will meet up with the other surviving members of the band to discuss plans to mark the milestone.

An official illustrated book, "Led Zeppelin By Led Zeppelin", will be released in October while guitarist Jimmy Page recently said that another LED ZEPPELIN live album will arrive later this year, with additional "releases" coming out over the next decade.

Speaking to The Current about ZEPPELIN's plans to celebrate hitting the half-century mark, the singer said: "Well, we're planning to get together and talk about it. Basically, it's very difficult to find stuff that still is unheard. And not only will it be 50 years, but it'll be, next year, 38 years since John [Bonham, drums] passed away. And the great thing about LED ZEPPELIN was that we didn't chronicle ourselves; we just kind of went from town to town and sang songs and played guitars and stuff and then went about our lives."

Plant added that he wished "that we had more stuff to look at, but there will be a book of photographs and stuff. But some of it will be particularly interesting, I think," he said. "Beyond that, musically, there's bits and pieces lying around, but not an album or anything like that. But there will be a celebration, I'm sure, somewhere. A cork will pop! [makes sound effects]"

LED ZEPPELIN hasn't performed together in more than a decade, having last played London's O2 Arena in December 2007. The concert was part of the Ahmet Ertegun tribute event, which was chronicled on the band's 2012 "Celebration Day" CD and DVD. The set, which featured Jason Bonham subbing for his late father John Bonham on drums, marked Page, Robert Plant and Paul Jones's first full-scale concert together since John Bonham's 1980 death.

Last October, Plant shot down the possibility of a LED ZEPPELIN reunion, telling the Daily Telegraph that "you can't ever really go back." He added: "It's tough enough repeating yourself with something that's a year old, never mind 49 years old. I've got to keep moving."

Plant has arguably been the lone holdout for another LED ZEPPELIN reunion. Despite promoter-led attempts to get the band to reform for a series of concerts, Plant remains committed to his new musical direction in the roots and blues-based "Americana" field.

Finnish melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS will release their new studio album, "Queen Of Time", on May 18 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2015's "Under The Red Cloud" will include the use of real strings, flutes, orchestral arrangements and even choirs. In addition, this will be the first time that people will be able to hear their lyricist Pekka Kainulainen on the album as he contributes a speech in Finnish.

"Queen Of Time" was once again produced by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, KREATOR), who is well known for challenging and motivating artists during the recording process. He isn't afraid to push them to their limits.

Guitarist Esa Holopainen comments: "I guess 'Queen Of Time' turned out as a massive surprise to all of us.

"Queen Of Time" will be also the first AMORPHIS album to feature the band's old/new bass player Olli-Pekka "Oppu" Laine following the departure of Niclas Etelävuori in 2017.

The buzz surrounding legendary metal band Judas Priest’s forthcoming album, ‘Firepower,’ is undeniably growing louder - on the strength of the video clip for the track “Lightning Strike,” as well as many of the attractive/limited edition purchasing options made available for fans via PledgeMusic already being sold out. And it will soon reach a fever pitch with the unveiling of another new killer track, plus another limited edition of the forthcoming album being made available for purchase.

Fans can now hear the title track from ‘Firepower’ in the video above, and can purchase a metallic silver-colored cassette version of the album on PledgeMusic via, and is being issued in an extremely limited pressing of only 300. And if judging from how quickly some of the previous limited edition bundles sold out via the site (such as signed guitars from Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, various colors of autographed vinyl, etc.), this rare cassette version will be an instant rarity and collector’s item. If you haven’t checked out the “Lightning Strike” video or preordered the album, you can do so now by visiting the follow respective links: and
Set for release on Friday, March 9th, 2018 via Epic Records - the album is comprised of fourteen tracks of pure and highly inspired metal.  And to mark the occasion Priest (singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis) has reunited with producer Tom Allom (the man behind the board for all of the band’s releases from 1979-1988, including such stellar classics as ‘Unleashed in the East,’ ‘British Steel,’ ‘Screaming for Vengeance’ and 'Defenders of the Faith') and with Grammy Award-winning producer Andy Sneap also helping to raise the sonic bar even higher.
“Tom Allom has got this classic metal thing,” explains Halford. “And Andy is a bit more of a ‘modern metal producer’ but his thinking is a little bit different to Tom’s. And I think to get this balance between that classic old school metal to what Andy’s world is was just a remarkable coalescence.” “Tom Allom has been with us since 1979, so his knowledge of ourselves and our music in general is immense,” adds Hill. And according to Travis Priest returned back to a recording method that worked incredibly well on the band’s earlier classics - “We went back to the organic way of recording where it’s all of us in a room and we got to play together.”

BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski has been formally charged by Polish authorities for allegedly disrespecting one of the country's national symbols.

The case, referred to court by the District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk, northern Poland, involves the band's "Republic Of The Unfaithful" tour artwork and merchandise, which is said to be "insulting" to the national coat of arms of Poland, a stylized white eagle with a golden beak and talons, and wearing a golden crown, in a red shield.

An expert on heraldry and iconography has determined that the tour's artwork featured "a distorted image of Poland's national emblem," according to the prosecutor's office.

The artwork "included elements and symbols considered Satanist and anti-Christian, with the aim of conveying content far removed from the historical and state ideology," the prosecutor's office said.

Nergal and Maciej G., who, as the band's webmaster, promoted the tour online, both stand accused of publicly affronting the Polish national emblem, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison. Also charged is Rafał Wechterowicz, the graphic artist who worked on the BEHEMOTH artwork.

This is the latest development in the legal case following an initial complaint filed with the prosecutor's office last September by Marek Dudziński and Ryszard Nowak, both of whom are representatives of a religious organization called Ogólnopolski Komitet Obrony Przed Sektami (English-language translation: National Defense Committee Against Sects or All-Polish Defense Committee Against Sects And Violence).

Nergal, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, commented on the case in an Instagram post. He wrote: "Well… this is the first thing that hits me after coming back from a relaxing and sunny holiday trip. Me and two other dudes are accused of profaning Polish emblem. What a bummer! PiS-driven Poland [Editor's note: PiS is a right-wing populist, national-conservative, and Christian democratic political party in Poland] is trying its best to nail my ass down… as an example, I guess. But first thing is: it is NOT a Polish emblem. Second… let's leave those arguments for the court case which is to begin shortly! Is there limits to their obscurity and blindness? Bring it on!"

Polish symbols are protected against public profanation and insult. According to, any public use that could be damaging or insulting may be considered a criminal offense. Therefore, it is important not to use any national symbol (even if artistically processed) in a way that could be deemed as disrespectful or offensive.

In 2011, Nergal was acquitted in Poland on charges he insulted religious sentiment when he called the Catholic Church "the most murderous cult on the planet" during the band's September 2007 performance in Gdynia and tore up a copy of the Bible, calling it "a book of lies."

Former MOTÖRHEAD and FASTWAY guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke passed away yesterday (January 10) after a battle with pneumonia. He was 67 years old.

Clarke was a member of MOTÖRHEAD from 1976 until 1982. He was one-third of the band's classic lineup, which also included drummer Philthy "Animal" Taylor, who died in November 2015 of liver failure. Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister succumbed to cancer the following month.

Clarke, Taylor and Lemmy appeared on five albums together: MOTÖRHEAD's 1977 self-titled debut, 1979's "Overkill" and "Bomber", 1980's "Ace Of Spades" and 1982's "Iron Fist".

MOTÖRHEAD has issued the following statement: "We are devastated to pass on the news we only just heard ourselves earlier tonight... Edward Allan Clarke — or as we all know and love him Fast Eddie Clarke — passed away peacefully yesterday. Ted Carroll (who formed Chiswick Records) made the sad announcement via his [Facebook] page, having heard from Doug Smith that Fast Eddie passed peacefully in hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia. Fast Eddie... keep roaring, rockin' and rollin' up there as goddamit man, your Motörfamily would expect nothing less!!!"

MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell said: "Just heard the sad news that Fast Eddie Clarke has passed away. Such a shock. He will be remembered for his iconic riffs and was a true rock 'n' roller. RIP Eddie."

MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee added: "Oh my fucking god, this is terrible news, the last of the three amigos. I saw Eddie not too long ago and he was in great shape. So this is a complete shock. Me and Eddie always hit it off great. I was looking forward to seeing him in the U.K. this summer when we come around with the [SCORPIONS]… now Lem and Philthy can jam with Eddie again, and if you listen carefully, I'm sure you'll hear them, so watch out!!! My thoughts go out to Eddie's family and close ones."

Clarke left MOTÖRHEAD in 1982 while on tour in the United States and was replaced by THIN LIZZY guitarist Brian Robertson.

SANCTUARY recently released the official prequel to 1988's classic debut "Refuge Denied",  "Inception", which showcased several previously lost recordings from their 1986 studio session that have now been restored, remixed and remastered by Chris "Zeus" Harris (Queensryche).

Formed in 1985, the band were signed to Epic Records with the help of Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine and released two records, "Refuge Denied" (1988) and "Into The Mirror Black" (1989) which saw them perform with the likes of Megadeth, Fates Warning, Warlock and Death Angel. The band disbanded in 1992 as members Warrel Dane (vocals) and Jim Sheppard (bass) went on to form the highly successful metal act Nevermore with acclaimed guitarist Jeff Loomis. SANCTUARY reunited nearly 25 years later in 2010 and appeared at several festivals worldwide before returning to the studio to record their acclaimed full-length comeback album "The Year The Sun Died" for Century Media Records in 2014.

Warrel Dane tragically passed away on December 13, 2017 due to a heart attack while recording his second solo album in São Paulo, Brazil.

According to The Spokesman-Review, Spokane County prosecutors have dropped all rape and kidnapping charges against the four members of the Polish death metal band DECAPITATED, citing the well-being of the alleged victim.

Less than two weeks before the musicians were scheduled to go on trial for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman on their tour bus four months ago, Spokane County prosecutor Kelly Fitzgerald filed a motion dismissing all rape and kidnapping charges. The motion cites "the well being of the victim" as a reason for dropping the charges without prejudice, meaning the four members of DECAPITATED could be prosecuted in the future.

"We feel it was the result of everyone taking a second look at this matter in light of new evidence," said Steve Graham, attorney for guitarist Waclaw Kieltyka, 35.

"They are headed back home this week," Graham said of the musicians.

The other three bandmembers are 27-year-old drummer Michal Lysejko, 31-year-old singer Rafal Piotrowski and 30-year-old bassist Hubert Wiecek.

Defense attorneys questioned the credibility of the accuser, who in 2014 admitted to lying to police about injuries she sustained during an assault, when her boyfriend was accused of stabbing three people. It was later determined that she was actually injured by her boyfriend during a previous argument.

The musicians were released from jail last month as they awaited trial. As part of their release conditions, they were ordered to stay in Washington and were required to turn in their passports. In the event that they did return to Poland, they were ordered to sign waivers of extradition, meaning they were agreeing to be extradited to the U.S.

The DECAPITATED members were released on their own recognizance and did not have to post a bond.

Their trial was scheduled to begin on January 16.

The woman alleged she was gang-raped by the musicians in their tour bus bathroom after DECAPITATED's August 31 concert with THY ART IS MURDER at The Pin concert venue in downtown Spokane as part of the two bands' "Double Homicide" tour. The woman said entered the bus for drinks with the band before each member forced themselves on her.

Deputies later stated the victim had "significant bruising to her upper arms consistent with being restrained" and "small abrasions on her knuckles that were scabbed over."

Andy Marsh, a member of THY ART IS MURDER, provided testimony for the defense, saying he saw the woman violently dancing in the mosh pit in front of the stage. "She was smashing her hands, arms and body against the metal barricade between the audience and the stage," he said in the court documents.

All four members of DECAPITATED were arrested on September 9 in Santa Ana, California after performing at the Observatory. They were held in Los Angeles County Jail before being extradited to Spokane.

DECAPITATED announced in September that it was canceling all previously announced tour dates. The band also publicly denied the accusations.

In a statement, the DECAPITATED members said that "the original officer who took the complaint from the accuser stated, 'I do not have probable cause that a rape occurred.'" They added that they were "confident that once the facts and evidence have been seen and heard, they will be released and able to return home."

The official video for "Lightning Strike", a brand new song from JUDAS PRIEST can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "Firepower", which will be released on March 9 via Epic.

Singer Rob Halford stated about "Lightning Strike": "To me, the overall concept of this song is to use the element of a lightning strike to pull away and tear apart at an individual, at a body of people, maybe an organization, maybe an administration, that is kind of leading you, or leading us, into potentially a destructive place. You're kind of spinning that effect round, and you have the right to react and to do something about it. So that, in essence, is what this song is all about."

"You're sowing the seeds of a nightmare from hell, your friends and your demons are tolling the bell," Halford sings on the track. "Walking through fire, fate's in my hands, waiting for lightning to strike.

The British heavy metal legends spent much of 2017 in the studio recording the follow-up to 2014's "Redeemer Of Souls" with the band's longtime collaborator Tom Allom, acclaimed British knob-twiddler Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, ACCEPT) and engineer Mike Exeter (BLACK SABBATH).

"Firepower" track listing:

01. Firepower
02. Lightning Strike
03. Evil Never Dies
04. Never The Heroes
05. Necromancer
06. Children of the Sun
07. Guardians
08. Rising From Ruins
09. Flame Thrower
10. Spectre
11. Traitors Gate
12. No Surrender
13. Lone Wolf
14. Sea Of Red

Halford told about the making of "Firepower": "We came off the 'Redeemer Of Souls' tour, had a little bit of a break, like we've always done, and then we dove straight back into the second record with Richie [Faulkner, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist]. And it's Richie's moment, really, because when we did 'Redeemer Of Souls' with Richie, obviously it was his first time with PRIEST as a writer, so I think it was great how Richie coming into the band at that point, and then going through the writing experience and the world tour together really put Richie in a better place for when we went in to do 'Firepower' — just because you learn so much in a band."

Halford added: "Richie's playing is fucking unbelievable on this album. And just the contribution, I think, as the writing team of Richie and Glenn [Tipton, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist] and myself. This is some of our best work — without a doubt."

Rob told "Trunk Nation" that collaborating again with Allom, who produced every PRIEST release from "Unleashed In The East" (1979) through "Ram It Down" (1988), along with several live records since then, has been "brilliant" and "absolutely fantastic." "Tom has a rich history with PRIEST, particularly those great moments with 'Screaming For Vengeance', 'Defenders Of The Faith' [and] 'British Steel'," he said. "My God — he's the man in that respect. So I thought it was really great for Andy Sneap and Mike Exeter to accept that this was gonna be like a three-man job, with Andy mostly holding the reins, but with Tom by his side and Mike there [as well]."

Sneap, who plays guitar in the reactivated British occult metal act HELL, told Serbia's Hardwired magazine that PRIEST's new album will contain "a really good energy and some real classic moments." He said "Rob did great" during the album's final recording sessions. "I'll tell you what: for someone who's got that much experience, there's no ego there at all," he said. "We'd do, like, six or seven passes, and I'd ask him to try something a bit [different] on this part, and he was, like, 'No problem.' And he'd give me another four takes with a slightly different vibe. And then me and Tom Allom would sit there and we'd comp it, and we pretty much agreed on everything."

The North American leg of the "Firepower" tour will kick off on March 13 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and will wrap on May 1 in San Antonio, Texas. Support on the trek will come from SAXON and BLACK STAR RIDERS.
