MARCH 15th, 2014

Review By: Metal Mom

The bands name is MOTHER, there is an image/thought that comes to mind at the mention of that word. A loving caring protective parent, one who can balance work, family and life. Well this MOTHER does have the talent to balance their sound, create a great life, and give to their fans (family) a well rounded spectacular piece.

On March 14th they are about to give birth to their baby, an EP named “A New Life”, in the USA. And for a sneak peek they have released a lyric video for Dying Day. The video was created by Shan Dan (Winds of Plague/Buckcherry and more).

For those of you who are not aware of Mother, a little history. I did a bit of searching because for myself, I didn’t know this band. They formed back in the spring of 2011, and in as little as 3 years, this young group has created a stir. They have some heavy hitter influences, like Guns N’Roses, Led Zepplin,Alice In Chains, Godsmack, Muse, Pearl Jam, Beethoven, Alter Bridge, Stone Temple Pilots, Pantera, Another Animal, Black Sabbath, Black Label Society to name a few. In 2012, they released Dissonant Young, a debut album of commanding blues driven rock. After that, they opened for many acts, including Buckcherry, Saving Abel, Eye Empire and a whole lot more.

There are 5 dynamic, hard rock alternative songs here that you can thoroughly enjoy. After listening for a few times, I can see this EP knocking them into the limelight.

1. Dying Day
2. Ghost
3. Outside
4. Driving Myself Insane
5. To Live Within

These guys obviously know what it is they wanted to create and they put it on this EP, Mike Gowen and Nick Fargo do some pretty solid rock style guitar work on here. Johnny Bass does some major thundering on his bass. The drums (Marshall Castaneda) are a driving force to reckon with, and let’s not forget the vocals, those are solid, with the enjoyment of being able to understand what he is singing. Very upbeat, and musically, it’s a wonder to listen to, very well put together.
