When “What It Is”, the first single from his debut album came out, Jonathan Davis also announced his World Tour dates, this tour is in support of his new album. The North American tour started April 6th in Portland, Oregon and ends May 19th in Camden, New Jersey, then a European tour starts June 1 in Nuremberg, Germany and ends June 23 in Clisson, France at Hellfest. Truly a world tour, and one not to be missed.

Our show in Vancouver was on Monday, April 9th at the Commodore Ballroom, and I truly expected to see a full house, I mean, it is Korns Jonathan after all. But I do hate to say it, I was personally happy to see not a sold-out show, because it meant, I could wiggle my way down to the front. I never fail to see Korn, so this was a must to see, find out what this was all about. Each time I have seen Korn, it has always been the bigger than life arenas, and not so close, but at the Commodore, I was just a little more than arms reach from Jonathan. That in itself was a bonus.

Jonathans new project has a familiar face in it, and it happens to be drummer Ray Luzier, who blast out those drum beats like no one else.

A couple of things, not to expect at this show, the bagpipes, the H.R. Giger-made microphone, and that quilt he has been known to wear. Don’t be disappointed though, Jonathan, singer, songwriter, composter, producer is about to unleash something a little different, he is giving us the opportunity to open our minds, listen to the words, find something spiritual and positive to draw from. He knows what he is doing, after all, he has been at this for 20 years.  But I did laugh at one song, because the last two sentences as you listened, wasn’t what you would expect, and at the end of it, he just shrugged and lifted his hands up in a I don’t know why I said that. LOL. What I did enjoy too was that you could hear the words he was singing, so clear, some fans were singing along. I was just so enthralled with being so close, enjoying all that the band and Jonathan gave us. Make no mistake, you would know that distinctive voice anyway, and I am glad that he didn’t change that at all, it is part of what I love about him, and very recognizable.

I was skeptical at first, after all there was a lot of years listing to Korn. In fact, my very first concert was to see Korn, in Seattle, Washington, my kids didn’t drive at the time, and really wanted to go, so I took them and their friends, and I have been hooked ever since.  I am really happy I went and got to experience this first Jonathan Davis tour. He creates his music the way he wants, and he is very successful at it, pushing all the boundaries. I was not disappointed, the whole band put on one heck of a show, great songs, just so professional. Yes, there were some slower songs, but you know what, they fit in, they gave you some time to slow it down, think and appreciate the talent that was in front of us. I wish that I had been able to go to two shows, because one just doesn’t really give you the full experience, well it does, I just wanted more. The set was over way too fast for my liking. I could have stayed and just been amazing for another couple of hours. Guess that means a CD is in order.

Don’t miss this show, it is really something to behold.
