Point of No Return is the latest from these thrashers out of Colorado who formed back in 2004. Jesse D Los Santos (bass, backing vocals), Pete Webber (drums), Reece Scruggs (lead guitar, backing vocals) and David Sanchez (lead vocals, guitar), in case you are wondering who it is that makes up HAVOK.

This is a 4 song EP that was released in May. Here are the 4 songs

1. Point of No Return
2. From the Cradle to the Grave
3. Arise (Sepultura cover)
4. Postmortem. Raining Blood (Slayer Cover)

There are some harsh lead vocals and some screams to enjoy. The guitar riffs are fast, but not furious, but totally thrash style. The drums are double time fast, and for the most part were great, but I did find at times there was a beat that took over and I didn’t even notice the other instruments any longer, so it kind of grated on me. But other than that, I am sure that most of the thrash fanatics out there will enjoy “Point of No Return”. The only thing I would have to say that’s really negative, is the fact they covered a Slayer song. At just about every show I attend, no matter what genre is playing “Slayer” is always yelled out, even if they are not playing. Raining Blood is one of my favourites too, so to have another band cover this, well it just didn’t seem right, and I didn’t really like it, but that’s because I am a Slayer fan, so no other would ever sound as good. For me, that made it a 3 song EP. I am going to say there will be many of you who enjoy all 4 songs on this EP, and its pure thrash, its HAVOK’s sound.
