Where do I begin, well first it was a 3 hour drive down to Seattle, WA from Vancouver, BC, and I wasn’t too sure what to expect, have only seen a couple of acoustic shows before. This show was a must-see event, an exclusive chance to see Ghost perform in acoustic. The tour was a first for these guys, especially on North American soil.

It was being held at Silver Platters Music Store, not many of these left in the world, and what a store to hold this event. It was very well organized, and they were always keeping the fans updated as to what was happening. I particularly like the way, you could pre-order their new CD “Meliora” and receive yellow wrist bands to be allowed into the store to acquire your perfect spot to witness this show. Along with early entry, your yellow wrist band  also got you a free limited edition lithograph, which you could have signed at the end of their set. By the way, I will give extra koodoo’s to Silver Platter for the way they did this, because as you picked up the poster, they asked your name, wrote it on a post-it pad, attached it to the poster, then when the guys all signed it, they knew your name, and wrote it on the poster along with their own personalized stamps and signatures. Originally drove by at 1pm and discovered there were already people in line, so quickly got something to eat, returned, parked and bought my CD to get the yellow wrist band. Yes, I know, the show wasn’t going to begin until 7pm, but hey, you all know just how important it is to have the perfect spot, for me, it was right up front and almost directly in front of Papa Emeritus III. A long wait, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

7pm came and right on time, the Ghouls walked down the aisle set up for them, the cheers began to fill the store as they got up on stage, got their acoustic guitars, and checked them while we waited for a certain someone. The cheers began to grow louder, which could only mean the one the only Papa Emeritus III was walking up to the stage. There were probably a little over 300 people in attendance, and this was going to be a really packed (and not to mention hot) event. During the whole performance, I didn’t notice the heat, I was so enthralled with what I was seeing. Papa Emeritus III, before they got going, handed out some instruments for the fans to take part, and you know they loved that. I am really not sure if I want to say the songs they played, because I want everyone and anyone to make sure you make the trip to see this show. You won’t soon forget what you see and hear. There were many cheers and snickers when Papa Emeritus III played the kazoo, yes, that’s right, the kazoo. He played it magnificently.

I think I need to say the songs though for the people that just can’t make it out to the show, and don’t forget, they had to re-adjust these songs to play them acoustically.

1) Jigolo Har Megiddo
2) Ghuleh/Zombie Queen
3) If You Have Ghosts

Oh, some might have complained about only 3 songs, but have you ever heard them play any of their songs acoustically, I was more than thrilled to have them play these songs, and probably the best part is to hear Papa sing, you know what you get on the CD is his true voice, no over mixing, production, this event really showcased it.  The acoustic guitars, well the Ghouls did a spectacular job, considering that Seattle was 27C and 300+ people in the venue, I am surprised they didn’t collapse, their new masks do an extremely good job of covering their faces, and the coats surround them, so no skin is showing, take a look at the  photo that is included and you will understand. There was much rejoicing and cheering after each song. You know I just have to say, I never expected such perfection in an acoustic show, and when you think about it, they have only been around since forming in Linköping in 2008. They have 2 previous albums: Opus Eponymous (2010) / Infestissumam (2013) and now the one that is being released  Friday is "Meliora". I have listened to the new one streaming, absolutely phenomenal, something everyone should have. How do you describe them, a question the border guard asked going through the border today, impressive blend of classic heavy 70’s rock with a real bite with some added melodic. All of that was conveyed in the acoustic as well. Ghost is acquiring a following, and in a short amount of time. We bow down and honor thee.

Please, if I could go to more than one show, I would, but if you are a Ghost fan, this is definitely something you need to attend, Ghost captured our attention and held on fast. But look at it this way too, it is a little teaser for what is coming in Sept/Oct/Nov to North America.
