GHOST, came to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver as a disembodied spirit, and collected many souls from the evening. Anonymity is a major characteristic of GHOST, the members have not publicly revealed their names or faces.

Drove into Vancouver with much trepidation, wondering if the trek into town was going to be worth the drive. You see, I have heard of GHOST, but have never seen them play live, and havent really listened to any of their songs. I know, where have I been living?

Well time for a little history lesson first, I needed to gather some facts to know a bit about the band before standing up front. So for any out there who don’t know GHOST, let me tell you about them. GHOST formed back in Linköping, Sweden in 2008, and is the name of a devil worshipping ministry, in order to spread it’s unholy gospel and to trick mankind into thinking the end is ultimately a good thing, having decided to do this, they needed to achieve this goal by the use of popular rock music. GHOST, also known as GHOST BC in the USA, as of late due to another band demanding they owned the title.  If you read you have probably read the statement from one of the Nameless Ghoul’s saying that the BC is obviously a pun on “Before Christ”, but its an amendment. In our world, we’re just gonna be called GHOST, and they will never ever ever ever ever ever call ourselves GHOST B.C. in anyway”. In 2010 they released a 3 track demo, followed by a 7” vinyl and eventually their debut full length “Opus Eponymous”, nominated  Grammis(in Sweden) for Hard Rock album was widely praised and increased their popularity considerably. Their 2nd album “Infestissumam” was released in 2013 and hit # 1 in their home country. Pretty killer when you realize that they have not been around for a long time. Their first time touring in North America was for “13 Dates of Doom.” Now this tour “Haze Over North America” , they are headlining, impressive.

“INFESTISSUMAM”, their newest album was released in Spring of 2013. Got it yet ? Well get it, you don’t know what you are missing.

Ghost began their Haze Over North America tour on April 12 at the Coachella Festival, and it will take them to more than twenty dates in the US and Canada until May 18th. If you are unsure about attending this show, DON’T , it’s a must see, so far it’s the best concert I have seen for 2013. And personally if I had known how incredible they were, I would have also attended the show in Seattle, I won’t make that mistake next time.

You know GHOST when they enter the stage, they are easily recognizable due to their unusual on-stage presence, the Nameless Ghouls wear hooded robes and stand motionless, which is required of them to be part of this sect. While Papa Emeritus II wears a combination of a prosthetic face and face paint, along with a cardinal robe and head gear, he enters the stage after the Ghouls, capturing your attention immediately, in fact I was holding my breath. Standing motionless and anonymous beneath the painted faces, the six nameless ghouls of Ghost deliver prayers of sexually romantic lyrics by way of  pulsating heavy rock music, singing the praises and making their songs more attractive to the innocent. Their plan for the night is to communicate pure evil, all by means of entertainment. They stand on stage and contrive to deceive, luring in the listeners to be fully possessed.  Standing up front I could see Papa Emeritus point at the adolescences, targeting them, they are easily lured. But damn, so was I, I wasn’t paying any attention to the crowd around me, my whole focus was on GHOST, their performance. Let me tell you, if you miss seeing them on their first headlining tour, you are not going to be fulfilled for 2013.  The Nameless Ghouls are haunting to watch, but you can’t look away, its very hypnotizing to say the least. They have obviously chosen the right way to communicate, all eyes were on this band. Absolutely phenomenal music, sensational stage presence. Come, don’t delay .. be filled by the music and philosophies of Ghost.
