DOMINIUM: WAR RITUAL

Review by YouFO

Genre - Black Metal
Hometown - Richmond, VA
Record Label - Horror Gore Pain Death Productions
Release date - May 13,2014

Dominium is from Virginia and they are a black metal band that formed in 1999 and disbanded in 2002. Then in 2011, the band got back together and on their own, released a second EP, The Incursion. Now in 2014, with the help of the Philadelphia based Horror Pain Gore Productions, Dominium released their debut full length “War Ritual”, fifteen years after the band originally started.

Classified as Black Metal, look it up and you will see that Black Metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common denominators fast tempos, shrieking vocals, heavily distorted guitars, and fast blasting drum beats.  Is this what this album has, yes, 29 minutes of it. This might have been better as an EP, only because the blasting drums got a little monotonous throughout. Musically in fact, it all seemed to stay the same through these songs, I would like to have seen a little more variance on this, then it would have been an excellent album. You can feel the hatred and brutality in their music, but just needs a small adjustment.
