Review by YouFO

Through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions there is an album that is about to be debuted. Get ready…it’s Ohio’s Blackened Death/Thrash beasts Dismemberment, and their debut is their highly anticipated album “Embrace The Dark“.

After a few listens, I found it to be a dangerous combo of old school and contemporary, not to say that’s not a good thing. In fact they are very ahead of the game in blending melody, ferocity, some very memorable riffs, and pulverizing drum blasts. Combine this with catchy songs and you have a release, about 40 minutes long,  that is going to crush you with brutality and talent.

1. Confess Your Flesh
2. Eye Of The Keeper
3. Archaic Wisdom
4. Labyrinth
5. Sacrifice Reality
6. Aura Of Obscurity
7. Anathema
8. Monolithic Impurity
9. Born To consume

Let’s give credit where credit is due, the recording for Embrace the Dark was with Travis Lautenschlager at Club Sandwich Studios in Columbus, Ohio, with mixing done by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) at Audiosiege Studio, and to complete it all, the mastering was done by Dan Randall (Ghoul) at Mammoth Sound Mastering. The artwork here was done by renowned artist Andrei Bouzikov.

You may not know the names of the band members Luke Shively - Guitars/Vocals, Jacob Shively - Guitars, Taylor Emerine - Drums, J.D. Henderly - Bass, but let’s not forget that all bands started out this way, a nobody, don’t let that stop you from listening to this album. There are still some pretty big name bands out there improving their music, changing the way they sound. It just depends on your taste of music, we don’t all like the same thing. I did enjoy giving this a listen, more than once to get the real feel for what they were trying to accomplish here. I think they succeeded. Don’t just give it one listen, give it a couple of listens to actually feel the whole thing. For me the old school sound had me hooked.
