One show is never enough when it comes in In Flames. So two it is. (Wish it could have been more, as it was well worth it).

Day 1:
Venue: Showbox SoDo, Seattle, WA
Door: 6:30pm
All Ages

WOVENWAR hit’s the stage first, and this was my first experience with this band. They surprised me, I don’t really know what I was expecting, but you need to see these guys play. Never heard of them ? Well they are a heavy metal act featuring As I Lay Dying drummer Jordan Mancino, along with members from Oh, Sleeper, they established themselves in 2013, and they are from San Diego, CA. They have recently released their debut album, self titled in Aug. of 2014. They only played for about 30 minutes, but what a fantastic set, great energy, and the crowd was there from the beginning. I don’t think I would just label them heavy metal, you will also find some hard rock, melodic undertones, and even some alternative metal here. They were a great opener for the night, but after watching them, I don’t think they will remain an opener for long.

Up next is ALL THAT REMAINS, and I am pretty sure, you all know this heavy metal band from Springfield, MA who formed back in 2000, and featuring former Shadows Fall vocalist Phil Labonte. You know that ‘these’ guys know what they are doing, and are really proficient at what they do. There is something that stands out above others, and that’s the fact they have a female bassist, Jeanne Sagan, after watching her play, I will say, see you can have a female in a metal band. This band, got the crowd moving, everyone was horns high, headbanging, moshing, you could tell the band was giving it their all from the crowds response.

“If this is a consular ship, where is the ambassador?” We just found the ambassador IN FLAMES.  25 years ago they formed in Gothenburg, Sweden and have released 11 studio albums, 3 EP’s, and 1 live DVD. They were also one of the first who pioneered what is now known as melodic death metal.  Did you also know that they have sold over 2 million records, so impressive, but you only have to see them, to know why. This is the band I came to see tonight, I really like the fact that their energy, showmanship, enjoying every minute they are playing, reflects in the crowd. You can’t help but enjoy In Flames set. But it just never ever seems long enough. They played a variety of songs from old to new, and the crowd shouted out their preferences too, of course. Anders Fridén, vocalist always bringing forth his own unique sound, whether it’s growled, screamed or clean, it’s what gives In Flames their own style. Björn Gelotte, lead guitarist, brings his own talent to the stage, and always looks like he enjoys every minute. Peter Iwers, bass, brings the thunder, giving that beat that solidifies the sound. Everyone on stage, moves, giving each side of the venue the opportunity to witness the pure “Force”. Niclas Engelin, may be the newest member to join In Flames, but make no mistake, whether it’s rhythm or lead, he has created something that adds to the sound of the band. Let’s not forget the drummer, Daniel Svensson, who sits behind the kit and masters the pulsating thunder. All in all, the band has found their niche and they do a phenomenal job. “The Force is strong with this one.”

If you want to see a show, and enjoy to the max, and feel incredible when you leave, then this is the one.

IN FLAMES dedicated their show in Seattle, to the fellow who was hurt crowd surfing and fell, to no fault of the staff, they had their hands full with crowd surfers. The fellow was rushed to the hospital. Hopefully he will be okay.

Another note here: Security at Showbox SoDo on Saturday night, did an absolutely amazing job, even when I got bumped at the front rail, security right away talked to the guy, never in all the years that I have attended concerts, has that happened. It made for enjoyable evening for sure. So a huge thank you to the Security team. \m/

Day 2:
Venue:  Vogue Theatre, Vancouver, BC
Doors: 6:30 pm
All Ages

Guitarist Jesper Strömblad left In Flames in 2008, and with that many sensed this would bring about the end of the band, but they delivered "Sounds of a Playground Fading" just to prove everyone wrong. With this album, it was given the gold for sales and topping charts in their own country and Germany. And then “Siren Charms”, the first album with Niclas Engelin as permanent guitarist, and also proving the nay sayers wrong about the fall of In Flames. Which is a relief to most of us.

No accidents to report on this date, no one got hurt, everyone enjoyed thoroughly. Lighting to me was better than at the Showbox. I also got to enjoy the full force of the show again up front.

Once again, this shows proves to be one of the best for 2015. Every band puts everything they have (heart & soul) into their performance. So much talent, and energy. Definitely a show to be remembered for those that attended.

Thank you to all the bands that came out on this tour, to give the fans a memorable night.
