Metal Mom

This is the 7th album released from these death metal progressive grind fellows. Travis Ryan (vocals), Josh Elmore (guitar), Derek Engelmann (bass) and on drums David McGraw are who make up this band out of San Diego, California.

There are 11 tracks and about 40 minutes listening time. Cattle Decapitation fans are going to love it, its what you expect , its their signature sound. Each of the 11 tracks on this cd all have something different, so there is no filler. In fact I would say the fans will mention it as the strongest to date from Cattle guys. With strong song writing, musicians that work it all into a perfect frenzy, with exceptional speed, growling vocals, a different sort of backing vocals as well, and just all around variety of songs that have their own distinct flavour. This album seems to revolve around the distaste for contemporary civilization.

Now, did I like it, to tell you the truth, I am no way a grind fan at all. So I listened to it and tried really hard, but just not my style, I can appreciate fast, but for me I need the flow, the melody to it so that I can tap my hand, or nod my head to it. But this is just too fast, and no real steady beat for me. I didn’t particularly like the backing vocals, as it sounded too much like a kid who was told to sing, but didn’t want to. But please don’t go by me. I can tell that there was a lot of work put into the making of this CD. And I know that the record label wouldn’t put it out if they didn’t think it was worth it. I suggest if you are a Cattle Decapitated fan, then its one that you should have .
