JUNE 6th,2011

Review by: Metal Mom

After what seems like 4 very long years, Arch Enemy from Sweden, has come out with their 8th Album, which could be their most forceful effort in years. The talent of Angela Gossow (vocals), Michael Amott (guitar), Christopher Amott (guitar), Sharlee D’Angelo (bass) and Daniel Erlandsson on drums, also a guest appearance by Opeths keyboardist Per Wiberg, I think have created an amazing CD for us.

They entered the studio, Sweat Spot Studio in Sweden December 1 to record, to be released by Century Media in Europe on May 30, 2011 and for North Americans we have to wait until June 7, 2011. This CD was produced by Arch Enemy along with Rickard Bengtsson, (who also worked on Doomsday Machine in 2005). Khaos Legions artwork was done by Brent Elliott White.

Arch Enemy is a Death Metal, Melodic Death, with some thrash added in , and I think this combination in inspiring. With some slaying riffs, and phenomenal guitar work, this CD sounds a bit like a return of new early material. The songs have a very heavy punch to them, and with Angela’s savage and brutal vocals, she catches your attention. And there is also an interesting acoustic outro to be heard on this album. Lets just say that in the 54:55 minutes , 14 songs , including 3 instrumental, I was never once bored, or switching to another song to see if it was any better. Arch Enemy has mastered their craft well, and know how to execute it to perfection. If you are a fan of this band, you will be ecstatic to have this one in your collection. And if you haven’t heard of them before , go ahead and pick this one up, it will be the start of something good for you.

For all of us, there are …. “No Gods, No Masters”
